China’s DeepSeek AI Assistant, which made waves in the global AI sector, has become the top productivity app in India in both Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
DeepSeek’s AI assistant, like ChatGPT, lets users enter prompts in order to generate answers, read files, search the web, solve complex problems, and summarise documents.
It has over 10 million downloads on the Google Play Store alone and pushed ChatGPT to fifth place. On the Apple App Store, DeepSeek had pushed ChatGPT to second place while Google’s Gemini took the third place.
Per the Google Play Store, the DeepSeek app collects information such as users’ names, email IDs, user IDs, phone number, photos, app interactions/user-generated content, and files/documents. Meanwhile, it may share information such as email addresses and device or other IDs with external companies/organisations.
