YouTube expands Communities feature to let more creators and viewers interact

YouTube is expanding its Communities feature that lets creators and fans interact with each other in a manner similar to a social media platform.

Creators who have Communities will be able to chat directly with their fans or moderate online interactions between their fans. They can also share posts with each other.

The feature is for mobile alone, and only invited creators have a Communities feature. Those who are eligible to launch their Communities will get notifications so that they can view the feature and decide if they want to pursue it or turn it off completely.

Additionally, what was previously the ‘Communities’ tab is also set to become a ‘Posts’ tab.

“At our Made on YouTube 2024 event a few months back, we announced a new way for viewers and creators to connect on YouTube: Communities. Now, Communities are expanding to more folks so we wanted to make sure everyone has all the info on this exciting update,” posted a YouTube employee on the official website in late January.
