Last week, WhatsApp started rolling out their new ‘Chat Theme’ feature where both Android and iOS users can choose between preset chat themes and background options. In case, users don’t want a pre-set theme, they can also select an image from their gallery as the background for chats.
These themes can also be applied to WhatsApp Channels but will be available just to the user who has implemented them. Users can also apply these themes for a certain chat or for all of their conversations on the app.
On iOS users can get to the Chat Theme option by clicking on Settings within the app, then choose ‘Chats’ from the menu. The first option that shows up on the page is ‘Chat wallpaper.’
Once you click on it, a new page appears with the ‘Choose a new wallpaper,’ which when clicked on again shows three options - Light, Dark and Solid Color. There are 32 options for Light toned wallpapers, 29 wallpaper options in the Dark subset and 36 solid colour presets to choose from.
The Light and Dark wallpapers have motion turned on by default which can be turned off by users.
If users turn on Dark Mode on their devices, the colour of the outgoing messages on WhatsApp also change to a dark green.
