Reliance Jio on Tuesday (February 18, 2025) announced the launch of JioTele OS, an operating system (OS), for affordable smart TVs in India “to meet the unique needs of Indian audiences.”

With the JioTele OS, Jio aims to target over 35 million connected TV households in the country that aspire for digital entertainment, without paying a premium for it.

“JioTele OS aims to transform Indian households with a fast, premium, and content-rich smart TV platform at an affordable price,” the company said.

Smart TVs from brands like Thomson, Kodak, BPL and JVC running JioTele OS will be available starting 21st Feb 2025, the company said. “More brands are set to join the lineup in 2025,” Jio added.

The JioTele OS will also allow access to TV channels, cloud games, OTT apps.

“Regular software updates to ensure the TV OS stays compatible with new apps, content formats, and evolving securities & technologies,” said Jio.

The JioTele OS can solve challenges the consumers face due to the limited capabilities of their connected TVs, such as restricted customisation, limited access to high-quality regional content, and the absence of seamless, premium user experience, Jio added.
