Intel has launched their new Xeon 6 processors with Performance-cores to handle data center workloads better. In a statement making the announcement, the company has said that the Xeon 6 delivers better performance than the previous generation by 1.4 times across enterprise tasks.
The Xeon 6 SoCs have up to 2.4 times more in terms of RAN capacity. The new SoC also has the first built-in media accelerator called the Intel Media Transcode Accelerator, which also lends considerable gains in performance per watt.
The Xeon 6700P and 6500P series processors can outperform the 5th Generation AMD EPYC processors by up to 1.5 times while using one-third fewer cores, the press release stated.
“We are intensely focused on bringing cutting-edge leadership products to market that solve our customers’ greatest challenges and help drive the growth of their business,” said Michelle Johnston Holthaus, interim co-CEO of Intel and CEO of Intel Products. “The Xeon 6 family delivers the industry’s best CPU for AI and groundbreaking features for networking, while simultaneously driving efficiency and bringing down the total cost of ownership.”
Besides, Intel also unveiled new Ethernet solutions like the Intel Ethernet E830 Controllers and Network Adapters which offer up to 200GbE bandwidth and the Intel Ethernet E610 Controllers and Network Adapters which have been optimised for 10GBASE-T connectivity.
Meanwhile, the company is going through a restructuring process which intends to save $10 billion this year with TSMC potentially taking over Intel Foundry Services.
